The MNLGA is proud to offer three scholarships to promote and provide for the future success of Maryland's Green Industry. Below you will find information specific to these three scholarships as well as information on other available scholarship opportunities outside of the MNLGA.

Maryland Nursery, Landscape and Greenhouse Association Ornamental Horticulture Scholarship
In keeping with its mission to promote and provide for the future success of Maryland's ornamental horticulture industry, the Maryland Nursery, Landscape and Greenhouse Association shall sponsor academic scholarships to students pursuing an education in the field of landscape/ornamental horticulture. Currently, the MNLGA offers three scholarships for $5,000 each to students with status of Junior, Senior, or Grad Student, enrolled in a horticulture or landscape architecture degree program.

Other Horticulture Scholarship Opportunities
Several scholarships are available through AmericanHort, a sister-association of the MNLGA. Student scholarships are administered by the Horticulture Research Institute, a division of AmericanHort.
Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarship
The Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarship is offered to college students from Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Mr. Akehurst was Executive Secretary of the Maryland Nursery and Landscape Association for over 30 years, and was one of the founders of the Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show. Mr. Akehurst was the Executive Vice-President of MANTS for over 30 years. This Carville M. Akehurst Scholarship was established by Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show to honor his memory and life-long commitment to horticulture. Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation (MAEF)
MAEF offers several student scholarships, including one for the University of Maryland's Institute of Applied Agriculture program. Applications due annually by April 1st. Please visit the MAEF website for more information.
Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship - Southern Nursery Association
The Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund was created in 1989 by the Southern Nursery Association to aid students from sixteen southeastern states – Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia – seeking a career in horticulture. The scholarship is dedicated to one of the most honored horticultural leaders, the late Sidney B. Meadows, who has been described as one of the industry's great humanitarians. Maryland Farm Bureau
